The Boat and Skipper

 

Learn to crew on a larger racing yacht. Macho Duck is a Tartan10, a 33 foot racing sloop. It will be skippered by Captain Tim, who has over 40 years of sailing, racing and cruising experience.

 

 

Race Like a Boat Owner without the Expenses

If you have ever thought of owning a larger boat or just want to see what it is like to sail on one, here is your chance.

 

 

Learn All Crew and Skipper Positions

 

Learning opportunities include boat handling, maintenance issues, rules of racing, team work, safety, logistics and so much more will be covered.

 

 

Space is Limited

 

You will have the learning experience of a lifetime.

 

We have space for only 6 crew members and 2 assistant skippers (based on experience). The cost is $375 for the entire season. The boat will be docked at Safe Harbor Detroit River, formerly Kean´s Marina.

 

 

A Lot of Sailing All Season

 

Beginning with an orientation meeting (May ), work session (May ) and shake down sail (May ), we will race every Tuesday evening (shove-off time is 6:00 pm) beginning May  and going through September  - a total of 16 weeknight races. We will also compete in the Detroit Boat Club´s DRYA regatta on June .

 

 

There will also be 3 pleasure sails, one each on Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day weekends. There are numerous other sailing and racing opportunities we can consider and discuss further. Haul out will take place in October. The  dates listed above should be considered the guaranteed minimum.
